Camellia City Ski Club is a member of the Nationial Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS) Inc. The NBS currently has a national membership of over 15,000 members and 83 predominantly African American ski clubs within each of its four regions: Eastern, Midwest, Rocky Mountain and Western. The NBS also has  an affiliate club in Europe. The NBS Mission: " To identify , develop and support athletes of color who will win international and Olympic Winter sports competitions representing the United States."

Camellia City Ski Club, a Western Region club, was formed in 1974 to promote skiing among African Americans within the Sacramento Area. In 1975 with 5 of it's members attending the first "Summit '75," in Sun Valley Idaho,  plans were made to join the NBS. By October of 1975, Camellia City Ski Club developed its constitution, elected officers and joined the National Brotherhood of Skiers.

Over the years, Camellia City Ski Club's grew and maintained as it's objective  to continually introduce skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing other related snow sports to African Americans within the Sacramento community. Beginning skiers of all ages, youth as well as  young and old are strongly urged to get involved in our programs.  Since one of the goals of the NBS and Camellia City Ski Club is to ensure an African American presence on the U.S. Olympic Winter Sports Team, we take great pride in encouraging our youth through special youth programs and activities.  We also promote activities to support the intermediate and advanced skiers in National Standards Race (NASTAR)  competitions and skill improvement.

Our  fundraising efforts support youth athletes in training for the U.S. olympic team and our Western Region's Youth Programs.
